Planning

5 year plan:

Graduated from university with a degree in theatre production, Maybe living back in Kings Lynn working at the corn exchange or princess theatre for a few years Ideal job would be assistant stage manager or stage manager preferably in London will have to travel it from Kings Lynn until I have the money to get my own place. I would love to support the local theatres in Kings Lynn to begin with as a starting point to my career

10 year plan:

Hopefully working in the theatres in London, being a stage manager for the big west end shows. At this point I would hope to have enough money to be living in London and have started a family. Also ideal job for this would be stage manager working on the West end shows such as Les Mis, SIX, Beetlejuice ect.

To help me in my career as a stage manager I'd like to follow Harold by starting out as an assistant stage manager because it will help me get more of an understanding of the job as most places probably would not take me on as a stage manager immediately. I will need costumer service skills to help me with this job which, luckily working in a restaurant since the age of 16 I have knowledge of costumer service skills. I will need to work on being able to take criticism to work in this industry as the director of the show may not like your idea of lighting or sound however, taking feedback from peers will help improve my skill so it doesn't affect me in the future. Another skill required is being able to work under pressure, this will help me as running shows is very pressuring however being a dancer myself I already have knowledge on the pressure there is in shows also, during August at work we did the eat out to help out and one of my colleagues was away so I had to take everyones orders and we were fully booked, this helped me work well under pressure as I knew I had to get it all done and stay as calm as possible so it didn't affect my job. Other skills needed include things such as the ability to use your initiative which I will need to work on as I tend to rely on others a lot.
